Meet Valerie

Valerie began teaching in 2006 and embraced the role of educational technology ​in her 6th grade mathematics classroom. She became a school and district level leader with tech integration that focused on 21st Century Skills. A partnership with Code.org was a logical next step as it aligned with her belief that girls and underrepresented populations need opportunities during school to explore STEM and Computer Science as a way to increase participation in higher level coursework. Valerie now works as a Instructional Technology Specialist for the Issaquah School District and trains teachers around the Puget Sound to integrate Computer Science into their K-5 classrooms.
